Wellbeing Science Master´s Program in Iceland Receives Generous Grant

A new Master's program in Wellbeing Science is among 19 projects to receive a grant from the University Cooperation Fund in Iceland, totaling €420000. The program is a collaborative effort between the University of Reykjavík, the University of Iceland, the University of Akureyri, the Directorate of Health in Iceland, and Surrey University in England. Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Iceland announced the grant allocation.

A Wellbeing Economy moves beyond the traditional approach, which focuses solely on economic metrics. Instead, it measures prosperity and quality of life through a balance of social, environmental, and economic factors.

"This new Master´s in Wellbeing Science is a great opportunity to train the next generation of leaders in the public, private, and third sectors. We need a new economy that pursues human and ecological wellbeing in a sustainable manner. To achieve this, we need new skills and new expertise. With its focus on wellbeing, Iceland is leading the world in this transformative revolution" says Lorenzo Fioramonti, professor of Surrey University and former Minister of Education in Italy.
